Practice makes perfect! Rehearsing aloud lets you hear the presentation beforehand in a different way than reviewing slides and notes. When you hear yourself, you create a better pace and realize where you may need to speed up or slow down. Also, in a situation like the one you describe, where you're presenting someone else's ideas, you also need to rehearse aloud so you can live with it a bit and see what flavor you can bring to it yourself (you don't want to feel forced). Sometimes nerves don't catch up with you until you're in the middle of a speech, when it feels too late to slow down the out-of-control bus. It happens. Great speakers always reflect on their mistakes and improve for the next time.

I agree. Just do what I did once in college... The doorbell rang and I answered it, hung over and disheveled.

"Good morning! Would you like to talk about our Savior and Lord?"

Ugh. Bleary eyed and grumpy, I grabbed the guy by the tie and pulled him through the threshold of the door, yelling: "I'm glad you're here! I want to talk to you about SATAN!"

We never had another evangelist show up at that address. I like to think the Almighty in whatever form He's in has a sense of humor. :)

Sounds like you did the right thing. Glad you helped balance out the bad vibes. I think kindness does go a long way toward balancing out bad behavior by others, and it's good to give people the benefit of a doubt.

Nice balance.

You need some metrics though. Do the cats get 10 minutes of play time a day or 100? :)

I'd love to hear more about your solution. Adding 'extra="swiotlb=force"' to my domU config consistently causes a kernel panic. Without it I get a DMA error with ivtv tries to load.

What versions of xen and ivtv are you using and with what kernel(s)?

Many thanks,

- Ben

I am in nearly the same boat as you were in only I'm apparently not sharp enough to figure out the swiotlb line. Could you send me an email to the address I left?

Do you think XBMCMythTV is useable?
